As nice as it would be to snag Tarasenko, I just don't see the Rangers anteing up what it would take to get him. As long as we're sticking to a rebuild, shipping out picks or prospects isn't going to happen. Unless we get a bunch more picks and prospects by dealing off vets...

Tarasenko would look great in the Garden, but why would we pony up all the assets needed to trade for him when we can simply sign Panarin this coming off-season?

Valid view. But no guarantee Panarin will be available - though it’s likely - and will definitely sign in NY - despite what’s been written. Also, if you move a contract, you could have enough for both, especially since $7.5 mil is relatively reasonable compared to what Panarin or Stone may ask or get

Would LOVE to see Tarasenko in NYR blue, but, at what cost? Have to think one of Chytil, Andersson goes the other way. Play it safe, wait and see if Panarin will be available. Maybe NYR can swing getting both? We will see what happens.

Based on the Rangers draft history and my eye test, I have no problem trading either Andersson or Chytil for him. Even both if we can dump some salary back (Smith for example).

I think I’d rather trade Andersson. With the emergence of Howden who looks like he can be everything Andersson projects to be. So Andersson++

How's Chytil, the pick coming from Tampa and any one defenseman in the organization except Miller and Pionk plus they have to take Smith back?

Why on earth would St.Louis want Smith? C'mon.

I don't think they would. I was trying to even it up with a salary dump - but I am biased admittedly.

Jokiharju has 11 pts and a 0 +/- as a defenseman on the worst team in the league

Seriously though,

Middlestadt has 9 more points in 14 more games, Rasmussen has 4 more points in 7 more games, Robert Thomas has 4 more points in 1 more game and Jokiharju has 6 more points in 7 more games. 14 players selected in the 1st round have yet to play an NHL game. Including 2 selected before Lias.
Certainly no one other than Hischier, Pettersson and (somewhat) Patrick are lighting it up.
I'd say we can feel that we did fine and move on, but I know this fan base a little too well!

well thats good I suppose!

I cant decide what is better for Andersson at this point, I think sticking around NYC is probably better but man he could use some better line mates

Because who says Panarin is going to reach free agency and pick the NYR? I'd like to think that CBJ aren't suckers and will trade him to a place that is within his destination aka big city lights for a full return in value. LVGK is a quiet team who could trade and resign him. Chicago might make it work and as cap strap as Tampa is, I could see them trying to trade for him. You can forget about him if a contender that has the city life trades for him.

Tarasenko would get his attention though. Than even if he doesn't then who gives cares? We will have Tara freaking senko, the shooter that we all been waiting for on the PP and 5v5. I think fans aren't aware how fast he is or how good his hands to set-up plays and deflect goals in are at this level.

No... Yes nah jk, defiantly a big no. I have been in a disagreement over here about the optimistic of Andersson staying in the lineup. Second day in a row as a extra

Andersson and McQuaid the extras. #NYR practice:
Chytil-Zibanejad-Zuccarello
Kreider-Hayes-Buchnevich
Namestnikov-Howden-Fast
Beleskey-Strome-Vesey
^ I tried to warn whoever you were that Andersson will be on the outside looking in when this team is healthy. He's gotten demoted from top 6 winger->3c->3rd line wing->4c->4 and now by no surprise, the press box. I expect to see him in the AHL before Christmas. That's the kind of deployments that he will see. Optimistic is for the weak minded.

I will never understand you or any of the others that come on here and think you know more than the guys running the team.
This isn't your PlayStation game, man. Not every player gets to be Connor McDavid and not every club gets to have a squad with no weaknesses. These are real people you are slinging mud at with every breath.
Lias did very well in Hartford. If the brass of the NYR decide he can learn more/faster being with the big club, in whatever role is available then who the (frank) are you to call it a mistake? He's a (frank)ing kid. He and Chytil both look better already than they did at the end of last season, or even the beginning of this season. Have a little patience or at least shut up.
